Welcome to the website of the Balloch Riders
The Balloch Riders Access Group (BRAG) is a voluntary group of energetic horse riders dedicated to restoring tracks and developing access to the Balloch woods – not just for horse riders, but for all users and a range of educational and recreational pursuits. This website provides further information on the work BRAG has undertaken to date, future plans and how to join BRAG.
Supported by the Forestry Commission and Scottish Natural Heritage, BRAG is now in the fourth year of the project and coming to the final phase.
Generous support has been received from Awards for All Lottery funding, SNH, Aberdeenshire Towns Partnership through Huntly & District Tourist Action Group, Aberdeen Access Strategy, HIE Moray, the Robertson Trust and Marr Area Partnership.
We are delighted to see evidence of greater use of the wood by local residents and visitors, including Huntly & Keith Schools. We continue to enjoy the support of the community as well as maintaining our current membership and recruiting new enthusiasts.
The tracks are designed to be multi-purpose and sustainable and we encourage courteous and responsible use of the forest.
You can follow the progress of our work via the projects page and see the latest updates and press articles on our latest news link where you will also find details of meetings and events.
If you have any queries regarding the work of BRAG, or about joining as a member, please do not hesitate to contact us.
